Meet the Founders

  • May — Designer & Creative Director

    Growing up with a passion for art, May graduated from TAFE's Jewellery Manufacture programme and became a GAA-certified gemologist. Her magnolia-inspired tiara was recognised at the JAA Design Sketch Render Competition — one of Australia's most prestigious jewellery design awards.
    May designs every Tayam piece by hand and in 3D modelling software, weaving Chinese classical aesthetics into contemporary fine jewellery.

    Tanya — Gemologist & Quality Director

    Tanya is a GAA-certified gemologist with specialist qualifications in coloured stone identification and evaluation from the Guild Gemological Institute. Every stone that enters a Tayam piece passes through her expert assessment.
    A mother herself, Tanya understands that the jewellery her clients choose marks the moments that matter most. Her standards are exacting because they have to be.

Our Story

  • TayaM is more than a name — it is a promise. Born from the friendship of two mothers, two GAA-certified gemologists, and two women who believed Sydney deserved better: exceptional quality, honest value, and jewellery designed with genuine artistry.
    The name TayaM combines the names of its founders — Tanya and May — a partnership built on complementary expertise and a shared obsession with beautiful things done right. Every Tayam piece is crafted by skilled local Australian jewellers, with gemstones ethically sourced and certified by AIGS, GIA, and Guild.
